Staying options in Germany:
There are a plenty of staying options available for students who visit Germany for higherstudies. The Student Services can help those students who have not arranged for accommodation before their arrival, with temporary accommodation. Youth hostel facilities are also available for a few days. These hostels are cheaper than a hotel or a guesthouse but one needs a Youth Hostel card to avail of this facility. These cards can be obtained from any youth hostel in the country. The tourist information centers can also help students in finding a guesthouse or a hotel.
Unlike universities in many other countries, German universities do not have hostel facilities. Students therefore are required to arrange for their own stay. Various staying options ranging from 100 to 250 Euros are available for students.
Student hostels are the cheapest of all and consequently they have huge demand. An early application to the local student service office can brighten up the chances of getting an accommodation in a hostel.
Private accommodation depends on a number of factors. Student Service and students’ union have agencies that inform the students about rooms to be rented. Also, there are international flat-sharing agencies that provide information on accommodation. These agencies arrange for accommodation across countries and hence they can be useful. Some of the well-known agencies are LIVIN and INTAS.
Local newspapers also provide information on available accommodation usually on Wednesdays and Saturday |
